How a Chicago quote gets built
A useful estimate starts with the basics: where you are going, how many people, and when. Run a light jet from Chicago to New York and the flight runs about 604 nautical miles, with a light jet time near 1 hour 46 minutes and estimated pricing of roughly $6,500 to $10,500. The same distance west to Los Angeles is 1,528 miles and a light jet time around 4 hours 47 minutes, with estimates near $18,000 to $27,500. These are ranges, not commitments, and the final number depends on aircraft, crew and airport fees.
From there we look at the field you leave from. Chicago Executive (PWK) sits at 647 feet with a 5,001-foot longest runway. Midway is at 620 feet with 6,522 feet. O'Hare lists 13,000 feet. Gary/Chicago International is at 591 feet with 8,859 feet. In July heat at PWK, density altitude runs about 2,300 feet and can hit 2,800 feet at 115F, which affects how much runway a loaded aircraft needs. We factor that in before quoting a specific type.
Who actually flies the aircraft
We are a broker. This company does not own aircraft. Once a quote is accepted, the flight is arranged through an FAA-certificated air carrier that holds operational control of the trip, its crew and its maintenance program. That distinction matters if anything goes wrong, because the operator, not the broker, is the entity with legal responsibility for the flight.
In practice this means you have two relationships. You talk to us about the trip, the aircraft options and the price. You fly on an aircraft belonging to an operator whose certificate covers the flight. We are transparent about which operator is being proposed so you can ask questions about the aircraft and crew directly if you want.
What we check before a flight goes out
Every operator we propose is screened. We verify the certificate is active and that the aircraft is listed on it. We check insurance coverage and look at third-party safety audit reports where they exist. Crew duty limits are reviewed against the planned schedule, not just the first leg, so a late return does not put a tired crew in the air.
That is the minimum. If a flight involves a high-density-altitude departure from PWK or a long overwater segment, we look at the specific aircraft performance and the crew's recent experience in that type. None of this is a guarantee, but it is the difference between a quote that looks good on paper and a flight that goes out properly.
How we are paid
There is no fee to request a quote. We are compensated by the operator when a flight is booked, typically as a fixed arrangement built into the quoted price. You see a single price for the trip, not a separate line for our services. If you cancel before the operator incurs costs, there may be no charge; inside the cancellation window, the operator's terms apply and we will tell you what they are up front.
Because pricing is an estimate, the final invoice can move if your itinerary changes, if airport fees differ, or if the operator adjusts for crew overnight costs. We show you the assumptions behind a number rather than presenting it as a fixed fare. Call with your route and we will put a realistic range in front of you.
Questions
Do you own the aircraft you quote?
No. We are a charter broker. The aircraft is provided by an FAA-certificated air carrier that holds operational control of the flight, including the crew and maintenance. We arrange the trip, compare options and present the price, but the operator is the entity with legal responsibility for how the flight is conducted.
What does a Chicago to New York private charter cost?
For a light jet on the 604-nautical-mile route, estimates run about $6,500 to $10,500 with a flight time near 1 hour 46 minutes. That is a range, not a fixed price. Aircraft availability, airport fees and the specific operator can move the number, and heavier aircraft cost more.
How do you handle hot-weather departures from Chicago Executive?
PWK sits at 647 feet, and on a July day density altitude is typically around 2,300 feet, reaching 2,800 feet at 115F. With a 5,001-foot longest runway, that affects how much weight a given aircraft can carry. We check performance for the actual temperature and passenger load before confirming an aircraft type.
